My Helper's

On Sunday, after I was done cutting the grass, the kids decided we needed a picnic. Caroline came in the house, made sandwiches, got snacks and of course, drinks. However, she thought I needed a beer before I started the next round of yard maintenance!! They were both so thoughtful, but neither one helped me past riding on the lawn mower. Go figure!!

Jacob's 6th Birthday

On Saturday, the kids had a party at Chuck E. Cheese for their friend, Jacob. They all had a blast and now that they are older, I don't have to chase them around so much!! Thanks for such
a great time Jacob, and HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!

Spring Fair

This past Friday night, the kids had their annual Spring Fair at school. They had a wonderful time. They made these really neat pictures at the Abrakadoodle spot. They used chalk, koosh balls and cotton balls. I think that was the best of the night. They also got to touch a horseshoe crab and starfish.

And the coolest dude is...

Harland, he had another haircut today. The hair that was cut was bothering his neck, so he took of his shirt. Mind you it is about 45 degrees outside. Sorry, the picture is blurry he moved his toy as the picture was being taken.

New Living Room

About 2 weeks ago, Henry went to Missouri for a recovery det and I had my brother Jason, paint the living room for me. Henry had no idea!! He comes home and it's about 98% done. He was so surprised. And, the paint color I chose ended up being the same as what Jason and Cherish have in their house!! He said, he was partial to this color. It has turned out nice and just need to find the right mirror to go on the back wall. And, it also lightens up the red in the dining room.

New Favorite Veggie

Last night, I thought I would try out a new veggie on the kids...Asparagus!! So I sauteed them up with olive oil, garlic and S&P. We also had steak and potatoes to go with it. I was so surprised to hear Harland say," Mommy, I just love asparagus!" He went on and on about how he just loves this veggie. So now, I am perplexed--he left the steak and potatoes on his plate and ate every last stem of asparagus!! Is this normal?!!

Adventures in not getting to School

This morning, I went ahead and tried to send Caroline to school. Her usual bus did not come, so a sub bus was sent. Caroline was the only student on the bus thus far. The driver turned off our street and proceeded to the back of the neighborhood. However, there was a cable line that was hanging down too low. The driver saw it too late and snapped the cable wire right off the pole. It was draped over the front of the bus. So, the driver called me and told me to come pick her up and were she was. So, I scurried to get the kids wrangled up and in the car. I still had inches of snow all over my windows since, I had no where to go. I found one of the kids old Wiggles CD's and scraped the windows so I could at least see where I was going. I got to the bus and Caroline comes running off the bus, her eyes were tearing up. One of the other neighbors saw it happen and called 911. I started to talk to the driver and made sure she was ok. She said she was fine just that it had scared her. I asked if she needed anything, she asked for some coffee since she was cold. I came home made a pot of coffee and brought it back to her. By this time the fire department had gotten there. The line was removed and she was told she should not have gotten off the bus so quickly until she was certain it was NOT a power line, it could have killed her. She said to me, "it did not spark when it was ripped from the pole, so she was fairly certain it was just a cable line". Not to mention the same neighbor had called the cable company to say that the line was hanging too low and the garbage truck almost hit it too. They saw it just in time and were able to stop. Just barely though. So, needless to say, she did not make it to school today. That was just too much drama for one 7 year old today.

SNOW!!!!

My Snow Babies
Caroline hitting Harland with snow
Overnight, we had some snow in our area. Who would have thunk?! March hits and we have snow. So far, the kids only have a 2 hour delay. But, I talked to my mom and she says that some of the teachers can't get in because some of the roads and bridges have been closed. And there is some pondering of actually closing school. But, at least the kids were able to get in some play time at 7:00 this morning!!! It was like Santa Claus had come only bearing snow! The joys of being young.
